A Gift My Mom Deserves
My mom is turning 70 years old this coming October. She has been taking care and serving us for more than half of her life. I can’t think of one instance when she thought of herself first before her family’s welfare, it’s always about keeping the family happy and together always for her. She would sacrifice everything even her own happiness if need be just for the family to stay undivided. This coming Mother’s Day I think it’s high time for us to show our Mom how much we appreciate and love her by giving her a gift she truly deserves, a HDTV. I know that Mom will be elated and touched with this gesture. After all, she earned it for being the best Mom that she could be to us her family.
The Key
Some of my friends are pleasantly plump, on the heavy side or simply put chubby but cute.
They’ve tried everything from exercise, special breathing and the best diet pills in the market but it did not work because they lack one essential thing and that is determination. If you are determined then everything is possible even losing those stubborn pounds. Determination is the key.
Lazing Around
Sometimes it just feels good to laze around especially when it’s been an extremely long week at work. I would just sit in front of the telly the whole day while munching on whatever I can get my hands on. Or I would play dress up with my baby daughter for long hours. Or I would lose myself in a very good book. Whatever it is that I’ll do every time my rest day comes, I see to it that its both relaxing and enjoyable. Tomorrow, I have to go back to the real world again. For now, its time to change the KVM switch.
Pipe Dreams
My friend and I were asking hypothetical questions the other day and one of the “what ifs” that we’ve asked each other was “What if you win a million in a crazy contest wherein you’d only be given a month to spend it all (otherwise it will be forfeited), how are you going to spend it?” And since I’m really burnt out with work and I feel that I need a real time off from it, a loooong one actually, I replied that I would spend half of it on rest and recreation and half of it would be given to charity. I would go on a trip, trips in fact. I would roam around the world. And number one on my list is Orlando vacations. It has always been my childhood dream to go to Disneyland. You might think that I’m too old for that but I’m telling you that you’ll never be too old in following your dreams.
Please Don’t Pass the Rice
A couple of months after I’ve given birth to my darling daughter, I was on the pill: diet pill that is. I’ve gained a whopping 40 pounds when I was still heavy with child. And it was a hard ordeal for me to lose it. Good thing that a friend of mine introduced me to a special diet and I was able to shed off a lot because of that. Now, I’m on a no rice rule. I can and will eat anything except for rice. If I get too hungry I’ll eat bread but if there’s carb already on what I’m going to eat like potatoes perhaps, I stay away from bread too. I curb my sweet tooth also and eat just enough sweets just to satisfy my craving. It’s difficult but I’m getting successful with it. I start to hear praises that I’ve really lose a whole lot of my pregnancy weight and I’m planning to keep it that way for as long as I can.
Artificial Beauty
As the old adage goes, beauty is only skin deep. I live by this quote believing that we do not have to be afraid of aging. That everyone can age gracefully if we choose to. I don’t have anything against cosmetic surgery but it’s something that I don’t see myself doing. I am not willing to go under the knife for the sake of beauty. If some women put anti wrinkle eye cream at the first appearance of creases on the skin surrounding their eyes, I on the other hand put nothing. I believe that cosmetics can delay aging but you can never escape it so why fight it in the first place? One day you’ll still wake up and have those “unsightly” lines all over your face anyway. I’m a believer of inner beauty and not the superficial kind.
