Illusion

Come in, I’ve been expecting you

There’s a knock on the door and love walks through

And lights a fire and smiles a smile

As if love were going to stay a while

And the fire breathes and weaves its spell

But then love runs out of lies to tell

For love is restless, love’s a flirt

Love has places to go and people to hurt

So here’s the shovel to smother the flame

Tomorrow you’ll barely remember my name

And I’ll try to forget you, my dearest one.

As a prisoner tries to forget the sun

For life holds no purpose

And love holds no charms

Since I beheld you in another’s arms

*Till There Was You

This is really wonderful. I think you have a lot of talent, and will be stopping by as much as I can. In the meantime, I am putting this site on my link list; hopefully it will bring you even more traffic.

@Mirage Chopper Thank you so much Mirage Chopper for visiting my site. Though it feels really good to be complimented, I can never take the credit for someone else’s work. It’s taken from the movie Till There Was You starring Jeanne Tripplehorn and Dermot Mulroney. I just love the poem so much but I don’t
know who wrote it. I have postings of my old poetry too though. And thanks for linking me it would be a great help for the traffic. I’d be linking you too becuase I really like your postings of poetry esp. When the Violets Cried. Hope you’d still continue to drop by whenever you can. Good day!
